Ford engine day! 6.2L we are replacing to re-power this F-350. This engine was not easy to find and fortunately due to having fantastic partners and resources, we located one in Anchorage, Alaska and brought it down. We are here to solve any issue and keep your vehicle on the road!  

2017 Silverado that was misfiring and having hard starting. We are doing an injector replacement and will be doing a walnut shell blast procedure on the intake valves. We will share that process next week. Don’t think the dealer is the only one who can perform this level of repair. We’ve got you covered!  

This is a really cool week for us here. Normally, we’d be headed to Kansas City for the Super Bowl of training for the automotive industry. VISION HiTech Training & Expo is going on, but in virtual format this year due to Covid. We will be loading up virtually on the latest topics for the next week! Pretty cool fix! So remember last week. We were working on this 2017 Silverado that had rough starting and misfires. It had two issues, the first was 3 failed fuel injectors which we showed you that process last week. The second issue was there is excess carbon buildup on the inlet valves. The inlet valves or intake valves are how clean air is supposed to enter the engine when it’s running. This engine and many other newer vehicles utilize a system known as Gasoline Direct Injection or GDI for short. This means the fuel injector sprays fuel directly into the cylinder. This is to help with fuel economy, emissions and power. With older engines, they utilized a system known as Port Fuel Injection where the fuel injector sprays ahead of the intake valve. With Port Fuel systems, the gasoline at the back of the intake valves naturally cleans them and it would be very rare to have carbon buildup on them. (See picture below).
